In pursuit of knowledge and skills with the belief that there is no end to learning, Dr. Furrakh Abbas is about to complete his second PhD in Applied Linguistics from University Utara Malaysia. He completed his first PhD in English from University of Management and Technology, Lahore (Pakistan). He specializes in mixed mode of research with expertise in both qualitative as well as quantitative mechanics of research with focus on English language teaching, sociolinguistics and other aspects of applied linguistics. With the experience of more than 8 years working in teaching as well as administrative capacities in different universities, he was also involved in different faculty development programs and workshops at NUML Lahore and University of Lahore. He worked in diverse professional academic environments like University of Management and Technology (Lahore, Pakistan), Baha ud Din Zakariya University (Lahore, Pakistan), Forman Christian College University (Lahore, Pakistan), Kinnaird College for Women University (Lahore, Pakistan), Allama Iqbal Open University (Lahore, Pakistan), National University of Modern Languages (Lahore, Pakistan) and Institute of Education and Research (Punjab University, Lahore, Pakistan). He has supervised 39 MPhil research projects in the field of English language, English literature, Applied Linguistics and English language teaching at the University of Management and Technology, (UMT) Lahore, Kinnaird College for Women University Lahore and the University of Lahore (LIFE campus), numerous Masters level research projects besides working as research consultant for US Aid (Pre-Step) programs. Besides authoring a book on linguistics published by Lap Lambert Germany, he has authored 24 research articles published in national as well as international journals of high impact (indexed with Scopus and Web of Science), has presented research work in international conferences as well.
